ANTHONY J. PATANZO
Tony was a three sport athlete at LCS, in football, basketball and golf. He was the senior class President and the Varsity Club Athlete of the Year in 1966.
He lettered all four years in Varsity Football. He earned 2nd team Wayne Finger Lakes All-Conference Defensive Back in 1965. He threw a touchdown pass against Clyde in 1962 as a freshman in a winning effort.
He played two years of Varsity Basketball helping Lyons win the Wayne Finger Lakes Championship in 1964-65 and 1965-66.
He began his love of golf in high school He lettered all 4 four years and was instrumental in helping Lyons win four Wayne Finger Lakes golf titles in 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1966.
Tony graduated from Mansfield University in 1970. During his senior year he was a starter on the football team.
He was a teacher at Clyde Elementary School from 1970-1986. He was Vice-Principal of the Clyde Savannah Junior-Senior High School from 1986-1988 and Principal of the Junior-Senior High School from 1988-2005.
Tony was also a very successful coach at Clyde-Savannah. His golf teams won 10 Wayne County Championships between 1970 - 1985. He was an assistant football coach from 1970-1985. The team won 115 and lost 15. His varsity basketball teams won 99 and lost only 10 from 1983-1988. They won 3 Section V Championships in 1983-1984, 1986-1987 and 1987-1988. Tony was the Section V Class B Coach of the Year in 1983-1984.
Tony won the Wayne County Amateur Golf Championship in 1982 and 1984. He was the 2004 recipient of the “James E. Allen Award” and New York State High School Principal of the Year. Tony has also been inducted into the Clyde-Savannah Hall of Fame.
Tony is married to Darcey and they have six children: Ann Kleinman, Amy Patanzo, Erin Perry, Rachel Connor, Tim D’Amato, and Tom D’Amato.
