    2004 VOLLEYBALL TEAM

     

     

    The Varsity Girls Volleyball team finished an excellent season with a league record of 14-0 and an overall record of 20-2.  After starting the season 2-1, they won eighteen straight matches including rival Clyde-Savannah three times.  The third time beating Clyde-Savannah gave the Lyons their first ever sectional volleyball title.  During this run, the Lady Lions defeated eventual State Class D Champions Webster Christian.   The team’s season ended in the state qualifier game losing to eventual state Class C Champions Byron-Bergen.

     

    Senior LaTasha Coney was named player of the year.  All-County First Team included LaTasha Coney and Jacqueline Tricarico.  Second Team players included Brittany McCray and Johanna Stoep.  Jacqueline Tricarico, Leisel Stoep, and LaTasha Coney (Class MVP) all made the Sectional All-Tournament Team.  The team also excelled in the classroom, earning Scholar-Athlete honors.  Head Coach Matt Barr was awarded Coach of the Year.
