Annie Barbi was an outstanding athlete for Lyons. She was a three year varsity soccer player, and the team’s leading scorer her Jr. and Sr. seasons. She was named to the Wayne County League All Star 2nd team in her Jr. season and to the 1st team her Sr. season. Anne was captain of the team in her senior year and was also named the team’s Most Valuable Player.

    Annie was also outstanding on the hardwood, starting three years on the varsity. Her team was a three time Wayne County Champion and a three time Section V Runner Up. Anne was named to the Midlakes’ Tip Off Tournament Championship Team; she was a Finger Lakes Times three time “Fab Five” Honorable Mention, a three time Wayne County All Star, a 1999-2000 Section V Girls’ Basketball Class CC Tournament All Star, and the MVP of the 2001 Wayne County Exceptional Senior basketball game. She held the Exceptional Senior game record for most two point shots made and most points in a game.

    Anne was a superb track athlete and excelled on the school’s varsity track team for five seasons. She was a member of four Wayne County Championship teams and captained the team her senior year. As an 8th and 9th grader, she was named to the Wayne County All Star 1st Team as High Jump Champion. During her sophomore year, she made the 2nd team in the high jump, and during her junior and senior year, she was named the Wayne County All Star 1st Team Pentathlon Champion.

    Annie’s contributions helped the 2000 track team become Section V Track and Field Champions. Annie was a four time Section V Individual Champion in the following events:
    1997 - High Jump Champion                          1998 - High Jump Champion
    2000 - Pentathlon Champion                          2001 - Pentathlon Champion
    In the 2001 Meet of Champions - Overall (Small and Large Schools) Annie was the Pentathlon Champion. She was a member of the 2000 New York State Class C/D Championship Team and a four time New York State Individual Award winner:
    1997 - 4th place - NY State, Class C/D - High Jump

    1998 - 2nd place - NY State, Class C/D - High Jump
    2000 - 6th place - NY State, Class C/D - Pentathlon
    2001 - 4th place - NY State, Small Schools - Pentathlon

    Annie was the Pentathlon school record holder 2000 – 2002, two time recipient of the Leon Hill - Bob Jones Memorial Award, the Wayne Finger Lakes Chapter of Track and Field Officials Award for Outstanding Female Athlete 1997 and 2001. She was a scholar athlete multiple times and received the 2001 LCS Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year Award and the United States Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award.


    Annie continued her athletic career at the University of Rochester, totaling 8 varsity letters for Indoor and Outdoor Track. She was Rookie of The Year and captain of both teams, earning multiple MVP honors. Her versatility allowed her to successfully compete in a variety of individual events as well as relays, the pentathlon and heptathlon. She placed 21 times at the New York State Collegiate Championships and qualified each season for the E.C.A.C. Championships, finishing in the top 7, 6 times.


    Annie graduated from medical school with honors and is living and working in New York City as an OB/GYN resident at Lenox Hill Hospital. She has continued to enjoy organizing and participating in charitable walks and runs.
