August to November 2016 Updates

  • It is truly an honor to serve the Lyons Central School District as your Superintendent of Schools.  Since beginning my new role on July 18th, I have been pleased to witness firsthand the many dedicated professionals preparing for the new school year.  Special thanks to the custodial, transportation and support staff for all their hard work in getting everything ready for the start of the school year.  We couldn't do it without them.
There will be over 900 eager students coming through our doors this year. Let us welcome our students and communicate our expectations that "together" we will build and support a culture that will stimulate growth and celebrate excellence for all students.

Today, I issued an academic challenge to our 7-12 students.  The two challenges are:
    1. 9-12 Students:  Every Regents Class have 80% or higher passing rate in June.
    2. 7-12 Students:  First Quarter Challenge:  To have more students on Merit, Honor and High Honor Roll than First Quarter last year.
Through twitter and a monthly update on my webpage we will document the journey our students and teachers are making to reach these goals.

It is hard to believe that while our student scholars have been hitting the books, the first few weeks of school are actually in the history books.  The first day of fall and October is here with all the accompanying festivities.  In the first month of school, I have enjoyed going from classroom to classroom, and event to event, watching the successful accomplishments of our students, teachers, and coaches.  To help you stay connected with all the important announcements and happenings in our district, we have created a twitter account that will be updated daily.  You can access it at twitter@LyonsSchool.   If you do not have a twitter account, don’t fret; a live twitter feed streams onto our website 24/7.
