Athletes of the Month: April 2025
Outdoor Track & Field (Girls) - Ja’Niyah Bell
In Ja'Niyah Bell's first season of outdoor track and field, she has posted a team-best in the 100m and 200m dashes. At the Lyons Roger Clark invitational on 04/26/2025, she took 1st place in both events. Ja'Niyah is also part of our 4x100 relay and has helped the team accomplish a PR each time they have an opportunity to run it. Her strong work ethic has helped her continue to improve in all of her races!
Outdoor Track & Field (Boys) - Kaywon Butler
“Smurf” is a first-year, freshman track and field athlete. He has been our most improved athlete on the track since the start of the season. Smurf comes to practice every day, and his work at practice has transitioned into PRs when he competes. He has brought his time down in the 100-meter by over 2 seconds and has taken off almost 4 seconds in the 200-meter.
Baseball - Gary Byler
Gary has been a key player for us. He has always given 100%, whether at practice or in a game. His hard work has paid off on the field, as he has had good at-bats, solid performances on the mound, and has been a leader in the outfield.
Softball - Keira Weber
On the mound, Keira has posted a 4-0 record with 43 strikeouts, six walks, and a 0.636 ERA. On the plate, she hit .500 and has 10 RBIs.
Boys Tennis - Gregory Kesel
Gregory has worked very hard in the off-season to get to where he is now. He is a born leader who always puts in his best at practice and matches. He is always asking for extra reps of drills to make sure that he is getting down what he needs to make himself a better player. He has won at both singles and doubles this year and will attend the individual sectionals for doubles this season!
Unified Basketball - Jeremy Wheeler
Posted 14 points and 18 rebounds in Lyons' first game of the year vs Webster Schroeder.
