In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, elementary students enjoyed a lively assembly featuring Miss Coco Flamenco! Through music, dance, and storytelling, Miss Coco shared the beauty and energy of flamenco culture, giving students a fun and engaging way to learn about Hispanic traditions and history.

Middle and high school students fill the hallways with energy as they move between classes, greet friends, and prepare for the next part of the day. The lively scene captures the spirit of learning, connection, and community at Lyons Central School District, with a little encouragement from the principals to help students stay on track and get to class on time.

During MTSS time, students worked with Mrs. Zulauf to explore the poem “First Farmers.” After a week of reading, discussion, and vocabulary practice, students wrapped up the unit by writing about what they would plant and grow if they were “First Farmers,” using the new words and concepts they had learned throughout the week.

In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, students in Ms. Ouderkirk’s 7th grade ELA class read and annotated The Medicine Bag by Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve. The short story sparked thoughtful discussion about growing up with Indigenous culture and traditions, as students reflected on family, identity, and heritage.
