Students in Mrs. Kesel’s 7th-grade class explored the different theories behind the causes of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. Through reading, discussion, and source analysis, they examined factors such as social tensions, economic pressures, religious beliefs, gender dynamics, and environmental explanations. After evaluating the evidence, students will build their own arguments and make claim statements about what they believe most contributed to the outbreak of the witchcraft accusations.
