Lyons Central School District is pleased to share an update on the major capital project improvements underway across district facilities. These projects reflect the District’s continued commitment to enhancing learning environments, improving safety, and investing in spaces that serve both students and the broader community.
Lyons Elementary School Improvements
As we continue to enhance the auditorium, the upcoming upgrades will feature comfortable new seating and advanced technology, including a new sound system, projector, and screen. These improvements will transform the space into a modern, welcoming venue for performances, assemblies, and events.
Traffic flow, student safety, and staff parking will be enhanced through the redesign of the bus loop and parent pick-up/drop-off area.
Inside the building, spaces will receive upgraded lighting, fresh paint, and new ceilings to create brighter, more welcoming learning environments. Bathrooms will be added to specific classrooms and near the cafeteria to better support students and streamline daily operations. Both elementary gymnasiums will also receive new flooring to enhance physical education classes and extracurricular activities.
Beginning next school year, the sixth-grade will enter an exciting new chapter as they transition from Lyons Elementary School to the Middle School. This move creates new opportunities, expands learning experiences, and provides a smooth transition to middle-level education.
Existing Middle School / High School Enhancements
At the Middle/High School, capital project efforts focus on performance spaces, safety upgrades, and preparation for the addition of sixth-grade students.
Significant technology upgrades have been completed in the auditorium, including a full replacement of the lighting and sound systems and the addition of new screens and projectors to enhance the performance experience. Alongside these improvements, the building is receiving comprehensive safety and security enhancements, similar to those recently implemented at the Elementary School. These upgrades include updated door access, upgraded cameras, and improved network and security systems, with similar updates also being applied to the Transportation Department.
Existing Community Center Updates
Renovations at the Lyons Community Center will continue to progress as we head into the new year. Utility relocation work, including water, gas, and electric lines, is already underway. Heavy construction equipment will be mobilized throughout the winter.
During this time, access to the Community Center gyms will remain available through designated temporary entrances.
Shared Transportation Facility
Installation of new entry doors with advanced access control systems, enhancing safety and security to match the rest of the district’s buildings. Electrical upgrades will also be implemented throughout the facility.
