For Mrs. Marie Loson, Lyons Central School District has always been more than a workplace. It has always been home.
A proud graduate of Lyons High School, Marie’s roots in Lyons run deep. Her mother, Mrs. Tricarico, lovingly known as Mrs. T, began working in the district in the 1970s while Marie was a student, serving as a library aide, where she later retired in 2010. Though Mrs. T has since passed away, her legacy lives on in the very halls where her daughter would later dedicate 25 years of her own career.

Marie began working at Lyons as a substitute so she could be on her children’s schedule, always committed to putting her role as a mother first. When her youngest reached third grade, she stepped into her role full-time. She spent 15 years in the math lab at the elementary school before transitioning to the middle/high schools in 2016.

Today, she serves as a Certified Teaching Assistant who coordinates and handles all testing accommodations at the Middle and High Schools. In a role that requires organization, advocacy, and heart, Mrs. Loson has been a steady fixture for students. She not only ensures accommodations are implemented with care, but she also advocates for what students need to feel confident and successful.
Testing can be overwhelming, and many students experience anxiety and self-doubt. Mrs. Loson has made it her mission to be the calm presence they can rely on. Known for her gentle smile and reassuring demeanor, she builds meaningful relationships and genuinely cares about who they are beyond the classroom.
Middle School Principal Ms. Renee Schott shared, “Something that has always been so special about Mrs. Loson is that she has always made the time to get to know the students, genuinely cared about wanting to know them as people, and that’s reflected in the support she has provided our students throughout the decades.”
A graduate, daughter of a long-time staff member, parent of Lyons graduates, and now a proud grandmother, Mrs. Loson’s story is one of family, legacy, and unwavering loyalty to her hometown. As she joins her husband in retirement, she leaves behind generations of students who felt supported, understood, and cared for.
Her roots in Lyons run deep, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
