Lyons senior forward Stephen LeBrecht reached his 1,000th career point Tuesday night during sectional play against Red Jacket at Lyons MS/HS. “Very happy for Steven reaching this milestone. He has worked tremendously hard and has earned it,” said Athletic Director and Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Zac Young. LeBrecht now joins an elite group of Lyons student-athletes to reach the 1,000-point mark.

Ms. Cori and Mrs. Sandore’s Kindergarten class had something to celebrate after beating their best iReady Reading scores during the Beat Your Best challenge. The extra motivation? If they had the most improvement, Ms. Cori promised to dress up in her chicken costume for the day. Their hard work, determination, and support for one another paid off, and we are so proud of the growth they showed as they pushed themselves to improve.

The Lyons Varsity Girls Basketball team is advancing in Sectionals. The excitement may have gotten the best of little brother Carzire Parker, who was fast asleep on the bleachers while cheering on his sister, Car’Mella Parker, as she inches closer to the 1,000 career point milestone. Join us at the MS/HS Gym on Saturday at 2:00 PM for their game against Clyde-Savannah and help cheer on Car'Mella as she reaches this great milestone!

The Lyons Varsity Cheer Team brought the energy to the League Competition, and it paid off. With sharp motions, strong stunts, and incredible teamwork, they took home awards and proudly represented Lyons. Congratulations on a fantastic performance at Leagues!

Mrs. Bookmiller’s 5th-grade class brought their holiday short stories to life by publishing and printing a class book. The class unanimously dedicated their book to Mr. Derek Poole of the Literacy Volunteers of Seneca and Wayne Counties, whose regular visits, encouragement, and passion for reading have made a lasting impact on their confidence and love of literacy.

Students in grades 10–12 continued learning about credit cards and the different ways finance charges are calculated, as well as practical skills such as using the knuckle method to determine the number of days in each month. These lessons were preparing them for a guest speaker from a local bank who visited the class later this week to share more about credit and responsible financial decisions.

Our "Buddy Classes" partnered older and younger students to complete projects on influential Black inventors in honor of Black History Month. Together, they learned about important contributions while building connections across grade levels through teamwork and collaboration. A special thank you to Ms. Jordan Hill and our Uplifting Students Committee for coordinating such an engaging school-wide project.

The Lyons Bowling Team hit the lanes at Sectionals this past week, competing with focus, determination, and pride. We are proud of the way they represented Lyons and gave their best effort in every frame. Great job to our bowlers on a strong sectional performance!

Lyons Middle/High School students are hard at work rehearsing for Sweeney Todd, premiering March 13–15 in the Earl Buchanan Auditorium. Second grader Avontay Smith was all smiles after returning from Principal Hysick’s office with a Cub Call home. He was so excited to share the good news and celebrate being recognized for his hard work and positive choices. Way to go, Avontay!

Mrs. Brooks’ 8th-grade Tech students are diving into electricity and circuit creation. With the help of special guest Eva from Ginna Nuclear Power Plant, they explored Squishy Circuits, using conductive dough to build working circuits and light up LEDs. The hands-on learning, teamwork, and excitement made for an energizing day in Tech class.
