After ten years of dedicated service to the Lyons Central School District, Director of Student Supports Margaret Blask is retiring. Known for her compassion, warmth, and deep commitment to every child’s success, Margaret has spent her career ensuring that all students feel seen, supported, and included.
Margaret’s path to education was rooted in her love for children. She began as a stay-at-home mom raising five kids and later pursued her degree at St. Bonaventure. She brought that same nurturing spirit to every role she held, from special education teacher to district leader. She joined Lyons in 2014, drawn by its sense of community and the opportunity to make a lasting impact.
At Lyons, she became a champion for inclusive practices and a familiar, friendly face to students, especially in the morning, when she loved greeting kids as they arrived at school. “Seeing their smiles and hearing families say ‘I love you’—it was the best way to start each day,” she shared.
Margaret is retiring alongside her husband, LES Behavioral Specialist Mike Blask. Together, they plan to spend more time with their family. But their ties to Lyons remain strong. “This isn’t the end,” she said. “We plan to stay in Lyons and will always be connected to this place.”
Margaret, thank you for leading with heart and making a difference in so many lives. You will always be part of the Lyons CSD family.
