After an incredible 40 years of service, Lyons CSD is proud to honor the retirement of Janette Sherry.
Janette’s career with LCSD began in 1985 when she first volunteered in her daughter’s kindergarten classroom. From there, she accepted a position as a teacher aide, later moved into the main office as a clerk, and eventually found her home supporting special programs.
Looking back, Janette shared that the most rewarding part of her work was watching students grow and succeed:
“It’s rewarding to see our students graduate and go on to college or careers, knowing the struggles they overcame. Some of the first students I supported now have children and even grandchildren attending our schools. It’s incredible to see that full circle.”
Her connection to the district has been deeply personal—her own children graduated from Lyons, giving her a front-row seat to their education and experiences while also being a constant presence for countless students across the district.
When asked what she’ll miss most, Janette said it’s the people:
“Every department here matters, and I’ve been lucky to work with the most amazing staff.”
As she steps into retirement, Janette looks forward to exploring new interests, possibly taking classes in the health field, and spending more time with family.
Please join us in thanking Janette Sherry for her dedication, kindness, and 40 years of commitment to the students, families, and staff of Lyons CSD.
