The Lyons Central School District welcomed students and families back in style with its annual Back to School Bash on Wednesday, August 27th. Held at both the Elementary and Middle/High Schools, the event brought together hundreds of students, families, staff, and community members to celebrate the start of the 2025–26 school year.
The Back to School Bash has become a signature tradition in Lyons, taking place on the Wednesday before classes begin. This year’s event was filled with energy, excitement, and opportunities for students and families to connect with one another and the larger community.
Students enjoyed a wide range of activities designed to prepare them for the school year, while also offering plenty of fun and receiving free LCSD swag to kick off their year. Children met their teachers, reconnected with classmates, and explored community resource tables. Middle and high school students picked up their schedules, tested out their lockers, and learned about ways to get involved.
Interactive activities kept the energy high throughout the evening, including bounce houses, bubble play provided by Bunch of Bubbles, and fire truck tours with the Lyons Fire Department. Families also had the chance to hear from New York Times best-selling author Alyssa Blask Campbell, who shared valuable insights and tips for supporting students.
Local food trucks added to the community atmosphere, with favorites such as P.J.’s Pit Stop, The Lemon Drop, Rollin’ Stones Pizza, and Nani’s Treats serving up dinner and desserts for families to enjoy.
Superintendent, staff, and families noted that the event captures the true spirit of Lyons. The Bash not only helps students feel ready for the first day of school but also serves as a way to strengthen the partnership between the district, families, and the wider community.
“This is what makes Lyons so great, bringing our schools, families, and community together,” Superintendent Dr. Matthew Barr shared. “The Back to School Bash is a celebration of everything we value here: connection, support, and excitement for learning.”
The district extends its gratitude to the many staff members, community partners, and local organizations who helped make the event possible.
