This Week in Photos: October 6 - 10, 2025
This week, staff members were recognized during the Volleyball game for Staff Appreciation Night, where students nominated and honored school staff who have made a difference in their lives. Representatives from all areas of the district were celebrated, including the Superintendent, teachers, bus drivers, the SRO, counseling staff, coaches, and more, a true reflection of the teamwork and dedication that make Lyons special.
This week, the Junior Lyons Lions were recognized during the Varsity Football game’s Youth Night. It was a great display of community spirit and collaboration, celebrating the future of Lyons football and the pride that connects our athletes at every level.
On October 7, students in grades 9 and 10 attended ROC With Your Hands, a career exploration event sponsored by RTMA and MCC. Students explored careers in construction, manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, and more while connecting with employers, unions, colleges, and the military through hands-on demonstrations and discussions about future opportunities.
This week, Lyons 2nd graders visited the Lyons Fire Department to learn about fire safety, explore the trucks, and meet the firefighters who keep our community safe. This is another example of the collaboration that makes Lyons so special.
Students in Ms. Gansz’s Leadership class participated in a gallery walk exploring essential leadership qualities. Working in collaborative pairs, they identified and discussed key traits, then created their own lists of essential leadership values. The activity encouraged students to reflect on their personal strengths and areas for growth as developing leaders.
Lyons Elementary has been recognizing classrooms that consistently demonstrate their ROAR expectations in the hallways. Mrs. Petty’s and Mrs. DeCracker’s classes were celebrated for being excellent role models. As a reward, their classes earned a popcorn party and a special classroom recognition to showcase their pride and positive example for others to follow.
