Athletes of the Month: February 2026
Competitive Cheerleading- Riley Jewett
Riley has worked very hard during the season and is a key component of the cheer team.
Wrestling- Preston Arevalo
Preston worked through a midseason injury and was able to come back for the League tournament as well as Sectionals, in which he earned a 3rd place finish.
Basketball (Girls) - Car’Mella Parker
Car’Mella had an outstanding month, including scoring a team high 27 points in the Varsity Girls' first round sectional game Vs. Cal-Mum. Just a sophomore, she scored her 1000th point in a quarterfinal sectional game to finish out the month.
Basketball (Boys) - Jamire "JJ" Johnson
“JJ” helped lead the Varsity team to a 7-1 record in February, averaging over 15 points and 12 rebounds per contest. In a win Vs. Jamire had 10 assists for the first time in his career. JJ will represent Wayne County at the Ronald McDonald All-Star game in late March.
Bowling (Boys) - Gavin Lamoy
Gavin has shown an improved attitude and was a real leader on the Bowling team this season. He was a key contributor as the Bowling team qualified for Sectionals, earning a 6th-place finish.
Indoor Track (Boys) - Angelo Card
Angelo brings a great work ethic and positivity to practice on a daily basis. He is a great leader and has a bright future.
Indoor Track (Girls) - Gabriella Aunkst
In her first season as a freshman, not only did she qualify for all the postseason meets, but also placed in the top 6 for each of her events, the 600-meter and 1000-meter.
