Lyons Central School District is proud to celebrate kindergarten teacher Jordan Hill, who recently received the Educators Inspiring a Generation Award, sponsored annually by the New York State Senate.
The award recognizes educators who go above and beyond in their commitment to student success through dedication, leadership, innovation, and lasting impact within their school communities.
A Lyons graduate herself, Jordan returned home to teach in the district that helped shape her. On May 27, she was surprised with the honor while teaching her kindergarten class as Superintendent Dr. Matthew Barr, Elementary Principal Erin Hysick, Board of Education members, fellow staff members, her students, and family gathered to celebrate the moment.
“As a Lyons graduate who has returned to serve as a kindergarten teacher, Jordan represents the kind of educator every community hopes to have,” said Dr. Barr. “She balances care and structure in a way that helps students build confidence and strong foundational skills while building meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.”
Dr. Barr also recognized Jordan’s involvement beyond the classroom through her work on the Uplifting Students Committee, the math committee, the Guiding Coalition committee, and more.
Following the surprise presentation, Jordan celebrated with her class before joining her family for a small reception in the faculty lounge, where fellow staff members stopped by throughout the day to leave congratulatory notes.
Jordan’s recognition continues a strong tradition at Lyons CSD, following high school history and leadership teacher Erica Gansz, who received the award last year.
Lyons Central School District congratulates Jordan Hill on this well-deserved honor and thanks her for the positive impact she continues to make on students and the Lyons school community.
