Ms. Tomassetti’s 4th graders put their math thinking on display! Working in pairs at vertical chalkboards, students used the “Building Thinking Classrooms” strategy to explore comparing numbers up to one million. With one chalk to share, students worked together, talked through their thinking, and solved problems as a team.
Our 6th grade Spanish students are building a strong foundation! Students have been learning the basics of Spanish, including numbers, months, and other everyday vocabulary as they grow their language skills and confidence.
Our Leadership students are helping our newest Lions feel at home! As part of their Welcome Project, students visited classrooms, connected with 6th graders, shared advice notes and delivered messages of encouragement throughout the school. It’s all about spreading positivity, building connections and welcoming every new Lion to the Pride!
Mrs. Kuhn, our College and Career Counselor, stopped into senior classes to connect with each student about the year ahead. After supporting them throughout their time at the MS/HS, she’s now helping our seniors navigate important deadlines, decisions, and next steps as they prepare for life after graduation.
A few of our amazing community partners in action! Through grant-funded partnerships embedded in our schools, students have access to extra support, resources, and caring adults, like Miss Lester and Mrs. Moore, throughout the school day. These connections are another way our school and community work together to help our students learn, grow, and thrive.
Mrs. Brooks’ Studio Art students are taking a collaborative approach to line drawing! Inspired by Matisse, students rotated every few seconds to add to one another’s drawings, practicing observation while letting go of the pressure to make every detail perfect. By creating together, students are learning to trust the process, see the bigger picture, and discover that drawing doesn’t have to be intimidating!
Mrs. Petty’s UPK students have been watching the butterfly life cycle come to life right in their classroom! After watching a caterpillar form a chrysalis and a butterfly emerge, students said “Bye, bye butterfly!” as they released their new friend and wished it a safe journey to Mexico.
Flashback Friday: Taking it back to 1967 with the Lyons Lions Varsity Football team! Nearly 60 years later, Friday nights under the lights are still bringing generations of Lyons together.
