This Week in Photos: October 12 -16, 2026
Our L.Y.O.N.S. Afterschool Program students are making the most of this beautiful fall weather! From playground fun to football in the yard, students are staying active and building friendships. The program provides after-school care in a safe, supportive environment with fun, play-based and educational activities, tutoring, and meals, giving students opportunities to learn, play, and grow beyond the classroom!

Our Driver’s Education students are hitting the road! With classroom learning one day and behind-the-wheel experience the next, students are building valuable skills and confidence. This program is another example of how LCSD continues to expand opportunities and increase access to real-world learning experiences for our students!

Ms. Williams’ students put their scientific thinking skills to work as they designed experiments to explore how one-way mirrors work! Through a collaborative “fishbowl activity,” students tested procedures, observed their classmates, and shared feedback to improve their experiments. This activity gave students a preview of what to expect when they conduct the lab in small groups next week!

A special thank you to 2nd grader Kinsley Weber for leading the Pledge of Allegiance at this week’s Board of Education meeting! We love finding opportunities to involve our students in Board meetings and let them shine. We’re also grateful for our Board of Education members and their continued dedication to supporting our students, staff, and the entire Lyons community!

Mrs. Lester’s middle school students used their critical thinking skills during a hands-on ELA lesson, using clues and observations to make inferences and draw conclusions!

Our Lyons Volleyball teams and their youth "littles" brought our school community together for a special evening of appreciation, awareness, and tradition! Players recognized staff members during Staff Appreciation Night while hosting their annual Pink Out game in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Proceeds from the 50/50 fundraiser will benefit Embrace Your Sisters.

Our Leadership Class welcomed Cori Bohan, a senior at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, who shared her experiences and advice on leadership beyond high school. Students also learned about an exciting opportunity to attend an upcoming TEDx Talk at HWS, where they’ll have exclusive access to meet the speakers and continue exploring leadership beyond the classroom!

Math meets creativity in Miss Koepnick’s 2nd grade class! Students put their math skills to work solving problems to create and color their own scarecrows, bringing a little fall fun into the classroom!

The excitement is building for this year’s Middle/High School Musical! Miss Shaffer kept students guessing with a series of fun activities, including a pyramid challenge, scavenger hunt, and special video leading up to the big reveal… The Little Mermaid! We can’t wait to see our talented Lions bring this production to life!
