STUDENT SHOUTOUT: Shoutout to nine of our Leadership students who volunteered at the local Cable Pierce Memorial Pickleball Tournament this weekend, helping manage the courts and earning some high praise from organizers: “They were the best court managers we have ever had!” This is one of MANY ways our students step up to support our community.

Our schools came alive yesterday with smiling faces, excited reunions, and the joy of welcoming our students back. From families dropping off their kiddos to staff greeting students at the doors, it was a wonderful start to the year.
Across the district, our staff worked behind the scenes to get everything ready, then showed up excited to welcome our students from the moment they arrived. From teachers and administrators to transportation, food service, facilities, and support staff, you could feel the excitement of having our kiddos back in our schools!

We loved seeing so many of our students and families come together for our Back-to-School Bash! Our staff were there to welcome their students back, reconnect with families, and share in the excitement for the year ahead.
What made the night even more special was the incredible support from our community. Local businesses, food trucks, organizations, and partners came together alongside our students, families, and staff, making the night a true celebration of Lyons.
It was especially meaningful to see so many Lyons alumni giving back. Lyons alum Kimberly Boehm and the Hometown Team at Empire Realty Group helped make our students and staff feel extra special, while fellow alumni Robbie Kelley and Connor Orlopp of Kelley’s Barber Shop did something pretty incredible by giving FREE back-to-school haircuts to our students throughout the evening! There’s something pretty special about seeing former Lyons students come back home to support the next generation.

This past week, our 6th and 7th graders got a head start during Middle School Orientation, learning bell schedules and locker locations, meeting teachers and principals, and enjoying plenty of fun activities along the way.
Current 8th graders and high school students also stepped up as orientation leaders, helping our newest middle schoolers feel comfortable, connected, and part of the Lyons community from day one.
A big thank you to Mrs. Brooks and her team for organizing two great days, and to our student leaders for showing what Lyons Pride and mentorship are all about!

We’re bringing the fun INSIDE! Due to the weather forecast, tonight’s UPK - 12 Grade Back-to-School Bash will now be hosted inside the Lyons Middle/High School from 5–6:30 PM.
Everything you were looking forward to is STILL HAPPENING! We’re just moving it indoors!
Please check out our updated parking map before you arrive. In addition to our overflow parking and continuous shuttle service, additional parking will be available behind the Middle/High School near the tennis courts.
Please note: The bonfire scheduled for after the Bash has been canceled.

Our first Summer Jam was a hit! Last week, Lyons CSD brought families together for an evening filled with fun, laughter, and community. From the foam party and bounce houses to smoothie blender bikes, food trucks, and local organizations, there was something for everyone.
The Class of 2027 joined the fun, raising money for their Senior Lock-In with a dunk tank and meat raffle.
Families could also stop by our registration table to learn more about Lyons CSD and how their child can become part of the Pride!

The Curtain Call Program successfully hosted its 33rd annual Performing Arts Summer Program at Lyons CSD, welcoming 157 students from six school districts. Throughout July, the music wing came alive as students rehearsed for performances held July 22 and 23 at the Earl Buchanan Auditorium. Over 70 Lyons students were able to participate and the district is proud to continue its long-standing tradition of hosting this exceptional regional arts program. Congratulations to all of the talented students, and thank you to the Curtain Call staff for another outstanding summer of performing arts!
