Even in the cold weather, our elementary staff at drop-off, our crossing guard, and our facilities team are hard at work welcoming students, keeping everyone safe, and plowing and clearing our schools to start the day. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to our school community. It does not go unnoticed.

That same care and dedication was on display when they welcomed former student Joshua for a special visit. While managing demanding winter conditions, the team still made time to share their work, reconnect with familiar faces, and create a meaningful behind-the-scenes experience for Joshua, who has a deep interest in buses and the team's amazing work.
“It’s nice to get behind-the-scenes experience of what happens in the bus garage,” Joshua shared. “I enjoyed catching up with them and loved that they remembered me.”
Thank you to our Transportation team for proving, on the coldest days and in the smallest moments, just how great you are.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Lyons Central School District will be closed all day on Monday, January 26th, due to severe weather conditions.

Meet Moose!
Lyons Elementary School is excited to welcome our newest team member, Moose. Moose is a 1-year-old golden retriever therapy dog who is officially joining the Lyons team after being approved at this week’s Board of Education meeting.
Moose belongs to School Psychologist Kaitlyn Waite, and together they completed specialized therapy dog training to earn Moose’s certification. He is ready to support students and staff by providing comfort, encouragement, and positive connections throughout the school day.
Moose is joining our growing K-9 team at Lyons. While Mrs. Kesel’s guide dogs in training have been part of the LCSD community for decades at the MS/HS, Moose now brings support and love to Lyons Elementary as our therapy dog.
We are excited to welcome Moose to the Pride!

We’re proud to celebrate our Elementary students who earned Cub Calls in December! Each Cub Call represents a student who went above and beyond, showing what it truly means to Lead Like a Lion. We are so proud of them and the positive impact they make in our school community every day. Keep up the amazing work!

As we head into the break, Lyons Central School District wishes our students, families, and community a happy and healthy holiday season.

Today, we celebrate Mr. Young for his dedication to Lyons CSD. In addition to serving as our Athletic Director, Mr. Young also supports our school community as the Assistant Principal at the MS/HS and the Boys Basketball Coach.
Mr. Young has served the district for nearly 15 years, and his leadership, commitment to students, and passion for education continue to make a meaningful impact. We are grateful for all he does for LCSD today and every day.

Congratulations to our November Cub Call recipients! Their teachers nominated each of these students for consistently demonstrating what it means to ROAR: showing respect, ownership, a positive attitude, and responsibility throughout our school.
Every student received a special Cub Call home from Principal Hysick to share the great news with their families. We are so proud of their hard work and positive choices. Keep ROARing, Cubs!
