A reminder that November's The Real D.E.A.L. event is coming up on Wednesday, 11/1!

Last week, Midland Asphalt paid a visit to LES to present to our third graders. They learned about the asphalt industry, PPE (personal protective equipment), how to stay safe on the job, Halloween trick-or-treating safety tips, as well as seeing samples of asphalt binders and hot mix asphalt samples. They were also able to see the asphalt distributor truck and how that operates!

LES Families: We are thrilled to share that we are a S.E.E.D. Certified School! This means our teachers are part of a growing community of educators dedicated to excelling in emotional development.
So, what does this mean for you? As part of our school community you get access to Seed & Sew’s course, Tiny Humans Big Emotions. It’s an online course designed to help you and your child process emotions together. The class is self paced and comes with a few bonus downloads for you to use.
You can sign up at https://www.seedandsew.org/offers/Ru2X4rEe/checkout using LYONSFAMILIES to login.
As a school, we’ve implemented this framework and techniques within our classrooms. We would love to have you join us through this course. Please feel free to reach out to runderhill@lyonscsd.org with any questions.

Congratulations to our October 13th Proud Paws Calls: Misael, Riley, and Cohen! Misael was nominated for being “ALWAYS Respectful, Helpful, and Positive,” and going “above and beyond” when the class had a substitute teacher.
Riley was nominated for “consistently showing that she is a natural leader. She is extremely responsible and often reminds me of things that I may have forgotten.”
Finally, Cohen earned his nomination for being “respectful to adults and peers in the room," as well as "demonstrating leadership skills.”
All three students called home with the good news last week. Congrats!
