On Tuesday, November 21st, 4th graders presented their Thanksgiving Brochures to LES staff and peers. The students worked on this project in connection with their Collaborative Classroom “Being A Writer” unit. This particular unit lesson taught the students alternative ways to write outside of writing a traditional story or essay. Looks like we know who to go to for our next district brochures! Thank you to the Fourth Grade Team for inviting us and sharing these photos. Great job, 4th graders, and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

This month’s LCSD Happiness 360 tactic has been “gratitudes.” At the beginning of November, Students K-12 were given a gratitude journal to record daily the things they are thankful for. Through our partnership with H360, teachers have been fostering an attitude of gratitude with weekly lessons and challenges. And we’ve also seen acts of gratitude pop up all over the district, including these gratitude jars in the MS/HS halls.
By the end of the month, LCSD staff and students will be able to recognize and appreciate positive things that happen to us daily. Don’t forget that everyone in the LCSD community is welcome to join H360! Register here: https://happiness-360.mn.co/spaces/8886899/feed

On Monday, November 20th, 3rd-5th grade students participated in workshops with The REV Theatre Company, who provide in-school arts education in the Finger Lakes region. Check out Mrs. Robbins' class getting in on the fun! Thank you to our partners at REV Theatre Co. for continually bringing your talents to LES.

Wow, what a show! 🪐 Under the direction of LES Music Teacher Ms. TaNisha Barrigar, Ms. Molisani's and Mrs. Parkinson’s 2nd graders staged their dress rehearsal of the musical "Journey Into Outer Space" this morning. LES peers sat in the audience to take in the show, which the students have been working on for ten weeks. The students have also been learning about the planets in class, making this performance a cross-curricular experience. Tonight's performance is a can't-miss, and open to the community!

A reminder that November's The Real D.E.A.L. event is coming up on Wednesday, 11/1!

Last week, Midland Asphalt paid a visit to LES to present to our third graders. They learned about the asphalt industry, PPE (personal protective equipment), how to stay safe on the job, Halloween trick-or-treating safety tips, as well as seeing samples of asphalt binders and hot mix asphalt samples. They were also able to see the asphalt distributor truck and how that operates!
